Handmade frames for paintings, mirrors, tapestries and more crafted in house. Our frames cannot be found anywhere else but our studio. The workmanship is done entirely by hand using quality materials such as wood, gessoes, gold, silver and more. We also create copies of antique frames of any size.
Materials used in the manufacture of frames
Wood
The main material we work with is linden, and for special orders we use chestnut, walnut, cherry, and pine. We also create wood carvings with our own and client’s models, both for picture frames and mirrors.
Primers
We use whiting based gesso and clay bole, both imported and made in-house.
Gypsum Castings
Crafted with our own molds or those provided by the client.
Precious and base Metal Coatings
In the construction of the frames and icons, we use 22K gold leaf, fine silver and imitation gold and silver. For external gilding, we use 23.5K gold
Varnishes and finishes
During framing, we work with original shellac finishes, stains and acrylic paints of different colors, as well as synthetic varnishes.
Passe-Partout or Mat
We use wooden and paper frames made from high-quality materials. The frames range from 2cm to 10cm wide and come in different colors. Our paper mat can be made of plain or acid-free cardboard in different colors.
Glass
– Plain glass 2mm thick
– Anti-reflection glass 2mm thick
– Glass with UV protection – 2mm thick and 70% or 92% UV shielding with sizes up to 1100mm/1600mm.
Mirrors
We use mirrors with a glass thickness ranging from 3mm-6mm and facets up to 30mm. There is also the option to add a hand engraving on the mirrors. There is no restriction on sizing.
